Today at the Danish Design Centre, Copenhagen , the mobile communication group at Siemens, Siemens mobile, launches the SF65 – a quality clamshell handset and the latest addition to Siemens portfolio of high-end mobile phones. Taking picture messaging to a new level, the SF65 has a state-of-the art SXGA 1.3 mega pixel camera with integrated LED flash, 4x continuous digital zoom and a 65,000 color TFT display. Coupled with the latest mobile features, this innovative handset brings together the best of the photographic and mobile world in a striking and compact package.
Aiding the metamorphosis from phone to camera, the SF65 uses a simple swivel action to transform from an elegant mobile phone to a digital still camera. Its integrated LED flash and 4x continuous zoom allows the digital camera to be used day or night and capture images with increased detail and clarity. The SF65 has been designed with dedicated cam era and zoom keys at the top and bottom of the display to provide a shortcut to the camera function and make it instinctive and easy to use. Images captured with the SXGA 1.3 mega pixel camera are displayed on TFT 128x160 screen in 65,000 vibrant colors so that memories stay as sharp as the moment. With an extended range of camera features and photo editing tools, the SF65 combines the quality and flexibility of a professional digital still camera with the convenience and spontaneity of a mobile phone.

It's not a completely new phone, the AL26 hardware is essentially identical to the Siemens AL21. But even though the AL21 was a basic phone, it scored well in terms of design and usability, so the BenQ-Siemens AL26 has been built on a good platform.
The specifications are a little basic - the BenQ-Siemens AL26 has a 130x130 pixel display, but no camera, Bluetooth or MP3 player. It does comes with GPRS, a WAP 1.2 browser and Java support though, so it will meet most people's basic needs.
It's a very lightweight phone, at just 78 grams. Despite this, the BenQ-Siemens AL26 has a pretty good battery life giving a maximum of 5 hours talktime and 9 days standby.
The "Hello Kitty" theme goes beyond a few graphics and a charm accessory - this version of the AL26 carries on the theme into its wallpapers, ringtones and preloaded games.
You can forgive the AL26's basic specification because BenQ-Siemens have put a lot of work into this as a nicely packaged consumer device, and given the reported excellent build quality of the AL21, it looks likely to be quite a pleasing phone to use too. It's certainly a distinctive handset, and it shows that the BenQ-Siemens partnership is capable of producing some promising products.
